Connectivity Fforet Clud — Headwaters in permalight.
The Fforet Clud Haiku Cycle – 8 haiku to save a forest (No. 6)
The Fforet Clud Haiku Cycle - 8 Haiku to save a forest 6/8
The aquatic life of the Forest need more than oxygenating waterfalls. Every part of the ecosystem maintains the total balance
Waterfalls are the forest’s oxygen pumps: falling water hammers rock, drags air under, and makes a stream habitable — for fish, invertebrates, otters, everything that depends on that invisible exchange. But nothing in a watershed is only “local”: light pollution disrupts insect behaviour and breeding, and when you fracture the night you fracture the river. Radnor Forest’s waterfalls and gills sit beneath the proposed Fforet Clud scheme — 30 turbines with aviation lighting visible for 40 miles — risking a permanent, industrial half-light over the dark headwaters that feed this landscape
The Radnor Forest/Fforet Clud is the highest place in Radnorshire, one of the highest in the whole of mid-Wales.
We must stop the destruction of this wild place. I’ve put an objection template together – customise it and email it, it will take a few minutes and it will count.
This is also where Wordsworth and others shaped the Romantic Night (There is an essay on my Substack about this) . Forcing a cultural assessment is one of the best ways to halt the scheme, so the objection covers that too.
If you are willing, please share and restack
