Today’s haiku turns from talons to sap. “Steel-wind” is my name here for the turbines: a machine ‘weather’ that shreds whatever strays into it. Against that I set the slow, stubborn regeneration of the forest – buds thickened under snow, trees that have outlived empires, season’s of renewal and retrenchment and renewal that, if we let them will outlast Bute Energy’s balance sheet empire.
We must stop the destruction of this wild place. I’ve put an objection template together – customise it and email it, it will take a few minutes and it will count.
This is also where Wordsworth and others shaped the Romantic Night (There is an essay on my Substack about this) . Forcing a cultural assessment is one of the best ways to halt the scheme, so the objection covers that too.
