Sunset Fforet Clud — Half-Light Forever?
The Fforet Clud Haiku Cycle – 8 haiku to save a forest (No. 5)
The Fforet Clud Haiku Cycle - 8 Haiku to save a forest 4/8
The ancient rhythm of the Forest must not be shattered9
Winter descends early in Radnor Forest. The light thins, the cold sets its grip, and the forest enters a season that should be defined by darkness, stars, and crystalline stillness. This haiku sits at that threshold — the moment when moonlight and frost briefly hold the land in balance. What is at stake is whether this ancient rhythm is allowed to complete itself, or whether it is broken forever by aviation lighting, industrial glow, and a permanent false dusk imposed on a place that has always known true night
The Radnor Forest/Fforet Clud is the highest place in Radnorshire, one of the highest in the whole of mid-Wales.
We must stop the destruction of this wild place. I’ve put an objection template together – customise it and email it, it will take a few minutes and it will count.
This is also where Wordsworth and others shaped the Romantic Night (There is an essay on my Substack about this) . Forcing a cultural assessment is one of the best ways to halt the scheme, so the objection covers that too.
If you are willing, please share and restack

Thoroughly enjoying this Haiku cycle, John. I found this last one particularly resonant. Thanks!
